The Colorado Buffaloes are the No. 10 college football team in the country.

That was the declaration Tuesday night from the College Football Playoff committee, which is charged with ranking the top 25 teams in an wholesale jerseys effort to determine a true national champion.

The buzz continues to grow for the Buffs, who will continue their quest for a Pac-12 championship Saturday against Washington State. The Cougars landed at No. 22 in the most recent CFP rankings, which were revealed on ESPN.

“That’s the national coach of the year,” ESPN’s top color analyst, Kirk Herbstreit, said of MacIntyre.

The top-10 ranking only furthers Colorado’s remarkable turnaround story. At 8-2 and 6-1 in the Pac-12, the Buffs have already won more league games this season than they had in their previous five years of membership in the conference.

And there is plenty of opportunity in front of the Buffs to climb even higher. After playing the No. 22 Cougars on Saturday, CU will close the regular season at home on Nov. 26 against Utah, which came in at No. 12 in the CFP rankings.

Win the next two games and CU would earn a berth in the Pac-12 title game, where it would play either Washington State or Washington (No. 6 CFP).

After a wild weekend in which the Nos. 2, 3 and 4 teams in Michigan, Clemson and Washington all tumbled, there was shakeup in the top four of the CFP. The top four teams in the final rankings will play in two national semifinal games, with the winners playing for the national title.

Alabama landed at No. 1, followed by Ohio State, Michigan and Clemson.
